Our durable 5/16″ steel swing chain is perfect for outdoor playtime. The chain features a smooth zinc finish that provides excellent rust resistance, and it’s made of Grade 30 steel with a 7/O Aught size. The links are 1 ½” long and have an opening that is ½” wide, and they are compatible with all of our shackles and S-hooks. We designed the chain with short links to help prevent small children from accidentally putting their fingers in the links and getting hurt if they fall off the swing.
You can purchase the 5/16″ steel chain by the foot or in barrels of 550′, and it has a maximum tensile strength of 5000 lbs. This product can last up to 5 years in optimal conditions and 2 years in harsh conditions, although some conditions may require replacement sooner. Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. Chain should always be attached using the last link in length of chain. Assembly will depend upon use.
Safe Use: This is for children 0 – 12 years old only. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to use unsafely. Do not allow it to be used if damaged.
Maintenance: At beginning and end of each play season and once a month during play season, check for rusty or worn chain. Carefully check hole around fastener to look for wear. Check for vandalism. Replace parts if necessary. Check to make sure S-hooks and/ or H-shackles are closed properly. Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records fro public-use playground equipment.
