Galvanized triangular hardware makes this one of our sturdiest swing seats.  It is made with 70 EPDM rubber with insert to prevent vandalism.  EPDM: Ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer which is a synthetic rubber material which helps prevent crazing, cracking and oxidizing.  It measures 6” x 24” x 5/16” thick.  The seats insert has bent edges to prevent injuries from sharp edges and then encased in EPDM rubber.  The seat should last 2 years in harsh conditions and up to 5 years in optimal conditions.  Some conditions may require replacement sooner.   

**Installation, Safe Use and Maintenance Instructions**

Installation:  Make sure when seat is installed the warning label is visible.  You will need to connect S-hooks or shackles from the triangular hardware on the seat to the chain and then S-hooks or shackles from the chain to the swing hangers.  The seats need to be not more than 2 ft off the ground.  Hangers need to be spaced 2 ft from the end of the set and 2 ft apart for each swing.  You will need to make sure the S-hooks are closed to within .04 to meet ASTM safety standards.  To do this you will need to use our S-hook pliers or a regular pair of channel lock pliers.  WARNING: Once the S-hooks have been opened they will have to be replaced to avoid injuries from coming open and/or breaking.  Make sure that the shackles used are tightened and if you use the shackle swing hangers for the chain that these also are tightened.  Inspect regularly or use Loctite® to make sure bolt is still tight. 

Safe Use:  This seat is for children 5-12 year olds only.  Not for Adults.   Adults should supervise children at all times.  Do not allow children to stand on seat or use unsafely.  Do not allow it to be used if damaged. 

Maintenance: Do monthly routine maintenance checks for cracks, rust, missing rivets, open S-hooks or evidence of vandalism such as cutting, metal showing through the material or children standing on seats and crushing or bending the seats.  Make sure there are no exposed footings, anchoring devices, rocks, roots, holes or any other obstacles in or around playground equipment.  This will reduce serious injuries.  In high use areas these inspections should be done more frequently.   Clean with mild soap and water when you do the monthly maintenance checks.
