Introducing our large 30” Polypropylene tire swing with a 16” opening and a depth of 10”. With built-in eye bolts that can fit our A5730 shackle, this tire swing is a fun and safe addition to your playset. Unlike traditional rubber tire swings, this tire has no rubber to wear off and stain your children’s clothes, and its closed design prevents bugs and water from getting inside. Safety is our top priority, and this tire swing meets ASTM Standards, allowing for no more than three children weighing less than 50 lbs. each to play on it at a time. Weighing only 19 lbs., it is easy to install and move around. Expect this product to last up to 5 years in optimal conditions, although some conditions may require replacement sooner. The tensile strength of this tire is 1000 lbs.

**Installation, Safe Use and Maintenance Instructions**

IMPORTANT: Please read for important information. In this material we have tried to provide some requirements stated in the CPSC Handbooks, ASTM F2373-11, F1487-11 and F1148-09. However, we in no way intend for this to be a complete list of requirements. Also these publications are updated frequently with changes therefore, you should read these publications yourself to determine if any part or installation could prove a danger to a child.

To help keep children safe from harm, review installation and maintenance instructions before installing equipment. These are located in the description of every product on our website. www.americanswing.com   Download and print these instructions and keep in a safe place. Our website also has a “Product Testing Information” page. All products are tested for lead, phthalates and tensile strength. You can also call us at 1-800-433-2573 for more information or see http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/pubs/325.pdf

Plastic play equipment can become hot enough ‐‐ in extreme temperatures and direct sunlight ‐‐ to cause burns. Plastic tires are safe, tried and true, but as is the case with all playground equipment, parents and supervisors must monitor the children in their care, make certain that the equipment is appropriate for their age, and always check playground surfaces for excessive heat before allowing children to play.  For more information, contact IPEMA headquarters at www.communications@ipema.org or by calling 17172381744.

Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. If the installation instructions differ from ours please contact us at 800-227-7529.

The minimum of clearance between the bottom of the tire and the protective surface should not be less than 12”. The minimum clearance between the seating surface of a tire swing and the legs of the frame should be 30” when the tire is in a position closest to the legs. The proper use zones needed for a public tire swing set should extend in any direction from a point directly beneath the pivot point for a minimum distance of six feet plus the length of the suspended unit. The use zone should never overlap the use zone of any other equipment.   For residential sets see spacing dimensions on Page 4 of the Outdoor Home Playground Safety Handbook. Only one tire swing is allowed per bay. No other type of swing is allowed in bay. Install swing set where a child can easily be supervised.   Do not install playground equipment over concrete, asphalt, or any other hard surface. A fall onto a hard surface can result in serious injury to the equipment user. Grass and dirt are not considered protective surfacing because wear and environmental factors can reduce their shock absorbing effectiveness. Carpeting and thin mats are generally not adequate protective surfacing. Install your play equipment on level ground with adequate surfacing and anchoring. Use proper hardware, and tighten all connections.

Attach three wider stainless steel H shackles, A5730, to the built in eye bolts. Make sure the wider side is attached to tire and the smaller end is attached to the last link of chain length. If coated chain, you may have to force S-hook or shackle through the chain.  Use the narrower H shackles, A5725, to connect the chain to the tire swivel. Use the smaller side of the H shackle to connect to the chain, and the wider side to connect to the tire swivel.  Attach other two chains in the same manner. Make sure that all H shackles tamper proof bolts are closed properly. You will need an A5750 wrench to open and close the H shackles.  If not using our H shackles, make sure that fasteners are strong enough. We suggest at least 5/16” diameter fasteners. Close according to Fig A1.19 for Fastening Devices.  Also, make sure that the fasteners are wide enough so that they do not crimp the tire eyebolt. This could cause the eyebolts to break.  A tire swing shall not occupy a swing bay with any other swinging element.

Safe Use: This is for children 2 – 12 years old only. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to stand on or use unsafely. Do not allow it to be used if damaged or wet.

Maintenance: At beginning and end of each play season and once a month during play season, check for sharp edges and/or cracks especially around eye bolts. Check for vandalism. Check for rusty or worn chain. See Tire Swivel for Maintenance on tire swivel. Replace parts if necessary. Check to make sure S-hooks and/or H-shackles are closed properly. Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records for public-use playground equipment.

Any damage from vandalism, abuse or misuse VOIDS all warranties.
