Our trivalent-coated 3/16″ chain is a strong and reliable choice for use in playgrounds. It is made of zinc-plated steel and features a trivalent coating that improves its resistance to salt spray, making it ideal for use in coastal areas. This chain meets all ASTM requirements and is 4/0 Aught and Grade 30, with 1″ long links and a 1/2″ wide opening. We recommend using it with any of our S-hooks or Shackles.
It’s important to note that chains not purchased from a playground manufacturer may have weaker links and even contain air bubbles. Our chain undergoes rigorous quality control to ensure maximum safety for children. This product should last 2 years in harsh conditions and up to 5 years in optimal conditions, although replacement may be necessary in some circumstances. It has a tensile strength of 3200 lbs. and can be purchased by the foot or in a pail of 250′.

Installation: Our parts are sold as either replacement parts or components of a set, unless you are buying our Metal Frame Set, therefore these parts need to be installed according to the sets installation instructions. Chain should always be attached using the last link in length of chain. Assembly will depend upon use.
Safe Use: This is for children 0 – 12 years old only. Adults should supervise children at all times. Do not allow children to use unsafely. Do not allow it to be used if damaged.
Maintenance: At beginning and end of each play season and once a month during play season, check for rusty or worn chain. Carefully check hole around fastener to look for wear. Check for vandalism. Replace parts if necessary. Check to make sure S-hooks and/ or H-shackles are closed properly. Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records fro public-use playground equipment.
